Michele Lawrence, Vice-Chair

Michele Lawrence is the Vice Chair of the Academy of Health Sciences Board and a member of the Finance Committee. She looks forward to meeting new AHS students and families to understand how AHS can help them achieve their goals. Michele brings a diversity of perspectives to the board, including:


  • Mother of 3 children ages 25, 24 and 12 – each with their own unique learning style and interests, which have required different types of support and encouragement;


  • Healthcare Executive with 25 years of experience, primarily in strategy & business development, and an MBA in Finance and an MPH focused on behavioral economics. Michele is currently the AVP of Business Development at the University of Rochester Medical Center, where she works with rural communities to improve access to healthcare services and strengthen the financial viability of hospitals. 


  • Educator with over 10 years of experience teaching graduate level courses, including several years teaching “The impact of cultural competency on plane crashes and patient safety.”


  • World Citizen – bringing a rich cultural perspective to her work, through her travels and her Islamic / Christian family with roots in Pakistan, Ireland, France & the Azores. Michele is fluent in French and can get by in a few other languages.
