Having served on the founding group responsible for creating the school charter, Wanda Perez-Brundage is now the Founding Principal of Academy of Health Sciences Charter School. Wanda grew up in Monroe County and has partnered extensively with urban students and families during her 20+ years as an educator. Wanda is mission-driven and determined to improve the success of and opportunities for students in Rochester.
Prior to founding Academy of Health Sciences Charter School, Wanda led transformational work in school districts around the country as a lead managing associate with CT3. She is also the former principal of DC Bilingual Public Charter School. Under her leadership, DC Bilingual experienced exceptional academic growth earning a Tier 1 school rating by the DC Public Charter School Board. Wanda is a graduate of the New Leaders principal preparation program and served as Resident Principal at Friendship Southeast Elementary Academy in Washington, DC. Prior to her work in school administration and educational consulting, Wanda was a teacher and then a teacher-mentor for the Baltimore City Public School System. Wanda has a post graduate certificate in Supervision and Administration from Johns Hopkins University and an MA in Elementary Education from Towson University. She is currently working on her doctoral dissertation at Northeastern University.
