AHS Status Update: Remote-Only Instruction
As of November 24, 2020, AHS has transitioned into remote-only instruction indefinitely. Please know that this transition is to protect student and staff safety, and we remain committed to providing excellent education to all of our students.
Thanks to our students, families, staff and friends of AHS for your patience, understanding and continued support as we navigate this together. Students should be dropped off at the crosswalk in front of the AHS main entrance. Please note that we do not open our doors until 8:55 AM. Prior to this time, we do not have adequate staff to supervise students appropriately. To ensure student safety, we will not permit students to enter before 8:55 AM.
School begins at 9:00 AM every day. Students who are dropped off are considered late starting at 9:01 AM.
-
Students may be picked up between 3:50-4:00 PM. Park in the parking lot off of Lake View Park or Fairview Heights Road. Enter at the AHS main entrance and come to the main office to pick up your child. Only legal parents and authorized contacts are permitted to pick up students.
-
To pick up a student prior to regular dismissal time, parents/guardians must check in at the main office and officially sign the student out for the day. Students cannot be picked up early after 3:40 pm. Please note that we are not able to dismiss students from class until the parent/guardian arrives at the main office to pick them up, even if the parent/guardian calls ahead.

AHS has an open door policy for our parents/guardians. This is YOUR SCHOOL and the more involved you are the more your child will benefit! To visit your child’s classroom, parents must sign in at the front desk, receive a Visitor’s pass, and be escorted to the classroom. Other family members can also participate and visit the classroom; however, we ask that the parent notify the school in advance and that no more than two family members visit a class at one time with the exception of a special event. For the safety of all children, government issued identification is required of all adults entering the school building including those for classroom visits.
